Though Littlestar is reserved, she has never been unfriendly. Generally a kind and warm-hearted cat, Littlestar works to make herself popular and well-liked, especially by her Clanmates. She is at least acquaintances or friends with all of ThunderClan, and would rather like to keep it that way. The opening for a small group of close friends has been filled by Briarstorm and Fireleaf, whom have been close since she was an apprentice, though she wouldn't count out another close friendship with the right cat. Littlestar would also be likely to strike up friendships with cats in rival clans [rather like Fireheart and Onewhisker], but will always put ThunderClan first.
As far as ThunderClan cats go, I'd be rather surprised if there was a good enemy for Littlestar. She's generally kind and caring of her Clanmates, and works hard to make sure she has a good relationship with all of them. Even extending to the other Clans, Littlestar isn't necessarily unpopular, with a friendly personality and a thoughtful attitude. Perhaps Littlestar's biggest enemies right now are the rival Clan leaders, feeling tension of debt-repayment from WindClan and RiverClan, and sheer mystery from ShadowClan.
LOVERS
Though Littlestar has made it far in life as a independent she-cat, she doesn't want to be solo forever. Littlestar would love a mate, almost certainly a ThunderClan tom, but a cat outside of ThunderClan could be interesting (though could only happen after much persuasion). Littlestar would love a cat to be her equal, to match her in kindness and strength, but strong enough to be her support. After all, Littlestar wants a life partner, someone to build a life with, so they need to be right right from the beginning.
Love interest ;; Briarstorm [complicated at the moment, one day mate]
I can see Fireleaf being extremely supportive of Littlestar when she became deputy and wanting to stand beside one of her closest friends and leader-to-be. She would probably have a lot of trouble talking to Littlestar about her problems and her fears when she was hurt. I can see her being really broken when she finds out she couldn't be a warrior anymore and it putting a real strain on their friendship for some time. Once she follows the path of the medicine cat though, she'd probably put a lot of her feelings aside and go to Littlestar and support her any way possible.
Now that they are back in ThunderClan territory, I can forsee Fireleaf being her being apprehensive and keeping a lot of her personal feelings pent up and locked away - wanting more to support her clan and be seen as a strong medicine cat. Maybe Littlestar is the one who really sees the emotional strain in Fireleaf and is the one who tries to get her to talk about it with someone and being the one who tries to get her to realize that she can't hide her emotions. It would put Fireleaf in a strained place because she would want to be there for Littlestar but still have her own space with things and it would probably put a strain on their relationship for some time until she can realize that she has to open up to not feel completely lost anymore. I'd love suggestions or anything else you want to add in.
briarstorm always has, and always shall, consider littlestar to be the flip side of his coin. since they were kits, they were the best of friends. while his brother, stonefang, had always been the type to "affectionately" pick on her for her size, briarstorm was the one that always saw the greatness in her. as they grew together, he never faltered nor wavered in his fierce and powerful loyalty to her. through tragedy, growth, and everything in between, she was a single constant in his life. while she is only half his size, he has certainly been honestly beaten by her on more than one occasion. his own ego may have been knocked down by such things, he always felt honored to have such a strong friend as her.
in becoming deputy, he defended her position with the conviction of a fox guarding her cubs. when anyone doubted her for things like her age or size, he was quick to snuff out any such ideas. they have always been like minded and able to share easy stretches of quiet, and simply enjoy being one and other's company. other times, they fired back and forth with animated conversation that perhaps only he or fireleaf ever have the privilege of seeing. her constant steadfast strength inspires him, and he when he desperately needed her when he lost his parents, she was there with a deeper understanding than most. when she became leader, he was proud, but also prepared to help shoulder her burdens. however, he did not expect he would do so by being named her deputy.
[potential plot material: when reading through her bio, i knew it from the start. briarstorm is deeply in love with her. he never directly pursued the feelings, but has never hidden them either. he had planned to court her as they grew older, but when she was named deputy he made himself put the feelings to rest. he was not going to burden her with his personal feelings. he would wait. he could wait forever for her. his devotion to her goes beyond being hopelessly and romantically in love; littestar is like his other half. he has profound respect for her and would never jeopardize their friendship, or her mental well-being, with his feelings. now that they are leader and deputy together, his heart aches.
i was thinking that perhaps not long before they returned home, he confessed his feelings for her and was shot down with something like "we cannot allow our personal feelings to cloud our duties". he understood, of course. i'm thinking that at first, she was angry/upset with him for throwing such a curve ball at their important friendship, and worried that this would change things. when she rejected him (kindly), he did not change his treatment to her a single bit. she maybe has warmed back to him and trusts that he's not going to push her anymore. it's entirely up to you whether the feelings are mutual or not, and if anything comes of it. i'd be happy to go either way. i know that briar will be hard pressed to ever move on from her, and even if he were to take another mate, i think he'd always love her first - even if the love is unrequited. let me know what you think!]
Ashenstar is the oldest leader of the bunch, coming in at sixty-four moons. He's respectable and is nothing at all like the "traditional" ShadowClan leader. After the death of Lionstar when he was forty-three moons old - almost twenty-one moons ago - Ashenstar led with the same iron fist that his predecessor did.
Being as old as he is, I foresee him keeping a bit of a distance from Littlestar at first - wanting to assess her abilities and the way she handles things. With her being one of the newest leaders and second youngest, he will want to know what the future of ThunderClan holds. Once she shows him that she is capable though, there will be a great deal of respect from the older tom. Truthfully, he will have some qualms with WindClan and down the road if ThunderClan needed the assistance - after Littlestar showed that she was worthy of it - he would probably offer it to her. (Unlikely TCxSC alliance? Saywhat?)
Definitely as they grow older, Ashenstar will probably consider her a colleague, maybe even a friend? This is all just thoughts, feel free to add or make changes.
Fireleaf & Littlestar I think we've bonded Fireleaf and Littlestar quite nicely in each of their character pages as well as in the chat. But, to make sure Fireleaf gets a reply too, perhaps we'll bring up her role in best friends' upcoming relationship?
When Littlestar is torn for how to react with Briarstorm, there would be no cat who's opinion she will value higher than Fireleaf, her best friend as well as her medicine cat. Fireleaf's advice will likely be significant to Littlestar, as she is the only cat to know Briarstorm and Littlestar as well as she does. Fireleaf can voice opinions that do not suit just Littlestar, but Briarstorm as well. And, most importantly, Fireleaf can voice her own opinion of her own role in the trio of friends.
Fireleaf is also perhaps the ideal choice for Littlestar to turn to for advice as a leader. As a cat who is already young and feeling inexperienced, Littlestar will be torn between her feelings as well as her duty to her Clan. Though Fireleaf is her friend, she is also her medicine cat, and the guidance to turn to when the Clan or it's leader is in doubt, something Littlestar will not take lightly. She's willing to listen to Fireleaf's advice, hoping it is what she wants to hear but willing to accept it if it is not.
Briarstorm & Littlestar We've discussed what their life might soon hold on the chat box, but, for fun, let's add it here. Continuing on from Littlestar shocked to silence from Briarstorm's confession ...
Briarstorm and Littlestar have had a close friendship, ever since the time they were kits. Perhaps one of the cats Littlestar respected and admired the most growing up, Briarstorm was likely among the top of the list. The two could hang out all day without tiring of each other's company, engaging in friendly discussions or even relaxed, easy silence. Growing up, Littlestar always wondered if Stonefang and Briarstorm would grow up to be ThunderClan's leader and deputy, feeling they would make a talented pair of leaders. Though she never imagined she would become leader herself one day, Littlestar always knew that there would never be a better cat to be her deputy.
Growing up, Littlestar's admiration of Briarstorm was certainly affectionate and undoubtably a childhood crush that really never went away. But, they were apprentices, and then young warriors, in no need to rush their lives by finding a mate when they were all happy serving their Clan to the fullest of their abilities. But Littlestar's service to ThunderClan became a heavier burden when she was named deputy, watching a subtle air of disappointment from Briarstorm - which confused her, since she really was quite sure he was not jealous of her deputyship - as well as a fierce protectiveness over his friend's new position. With Littlestar and Fireleaf shouldering a burden greater than they had expected they would when they made their warrior vows, Littlestar had decided to give Briarstorm the responsibility to join them as deputy.
It wasn't long before they returned to their forest for good when Briarstorm had taken a risk and confessed his own feelings for Littlestar. The she-cat had been stunned to silence as her best friend confessed he loved her, beyond amazed that her own feelings had been mutual all along. But Littlestar never quite managed to reply, as Briarstorm had taken her stunned and silent reaction as a refusal, and began to pull away somewhat. Littlestar longed to reply, but she never managed to find the right time, or the right words, leaving their relationship somewhat shaken, and leaving the leader feeling like she had lost the cat she loved as well as her best friend thanks to her foolishness.
Ashenstar & Littlestar Littlestar will likely be somewhat intimidated by Ashenstar upon their first few counters, with their comparable size difference only being one factor. After all, she is one of the youngest leaders, and among the newest and least experienced. But Littlestar does not fear Ashenstar, instead holding a fierce admiration for the ShadowClan leader. In many regards she will see him as an equal to Stonestar, her predecessor, and a fierce and noble warrior. Ashenstar is a kind but powerful leader to ShadowClan, and he will have won Littlestar's respect early on.
Perhaps once their levels of experience start to narrow there will be a true sense of equality between the two, less senior and newbie, and more of a sense of being colleagues with one another. Both cats are smart and wise, and could likely hold discussions to last all night at a gathering. Littlestar and Ashenstar will likely hold each other with true respect, and perhaps one day, friendship.
With a potential conflict between Clans seeming inevitable, perhaps it is unsurprising Clans will start taking sides. For now, ShadowClan has little to argue with towards other Clans, and Littlestar will see him as a potential friend or foe with tension high in WindClan and RiverClan. Littlestar would work hard to have Ashenstar as her ally, though hoping to avoid the same debt she owes to her other neighbors. Though, perhaps learning that Ashenstar is a worried father who learns his children are alive in an unrelated Clan will make her want to team up with ShadowClan for more reasons that ThunderClan's protection. Perhaps this is the birth of a longer term cross-Clan alliance and friendship.
